How Last Year Led me to Today
For the past few years I’ve been putting together Christmas gift boxes for orphans in Peru. It’s a shoebox that I would fill with pens, markers, notebook, hair bows (for the girls), games, deodorant, toothpaste, etc. But probably the most important thing in the box was a letter to the child and a picture of me.

The Feet of Our Maker
We stepped out of the truck and took several steps back in time to a village in Bantu, Ethiopia. That’s when we saw the children. I stood in awe. They were beautiful.

Back from Guatemala
Bob Sturm hosts a daily sports talk show on Sportsradio 1310, The Ticket in the Dallas/Fort Worth area and has participated on several Buckner mission trips.

A Blessed Journey of Healing
I am not even sure where to start our story, so I thought I might begin with the happy ending. On December 22, 2005, we went to the hospital in Sherman, Texas, to meet our future daughter and her birth family for the first time.

Blessed to Bless Others
My mother received her first pair of shoes when she was 14. She reminded me of this while we sat in my parked car reading the latest issue of Buckner Today.

Yolani’s Little Step
Twelve-year-old Yolani couldn't speak or move without someone doing it for her. But a mission team witnessed an amazing feat.

Calming an Anxious Heart
Many prayers and preparations went into the six months leading up to the 2008 camp for the children at the orphanage in Zau deCampie, Romania. Just before the kids arrived, my heart felt anxious.

A Night with the Orphans
I was very excited about going back to Huehuetenango on Monday, so when we pulled into the orphanage I was pumped.

Building a New Home for a
New Generation in Peru

The Red Dot team returned home from Peru with our hearts touched by the precious children we encountered in Cusco.

A Simple Request from a Hungry
Homeless Woman

There were about eight people living in the tent. It had been a week since Hurricane Dolly, so they’d been sleeping under the elements and living off of the food they’d received from the Red Cross.

How a Girl Named Maggie Changed My Life
It is late Friday afternoon in Guatemala City and our church's mission group is in a van headed toward the Buckner Girls Transitional Home.
